Rafting
Lochsa: The Lochsa River is a world-class big water river with over 40 major rapids from class IV- to class IV+. If you are an experienced rafter and want a day full of adrenaline on a rollercoaster of whitewater, this is an excellent option for you. Located in Syringa, Idaho, just three and a half hours from Coeur d’Alene making it a great weekend getaway. The Lochsa is best to raft from May to June.
St. Joe: The St. Joe is one of many hidden gems of the Gem state. This free-flowing wild and scenic river bends its way through thick cedar forests atop crystal clear waters. This class II-III river makes a great rafting option for thrill-seeking beginners and experienced rafters alike. With a short season from June through early July, rafting the St. Joe is a great way to kick off the summer. Just two and a half hours from Coeur d’Alene you can make this a day trip or prolong your vacation into the St. Joe National Forest and camp riverside.
Clark Fork: The Clark Fork River through the Alberton Gorge, is located just outside of Superior, Montana, just an hour and a half from Coeur d’Alene. This is a great day trip for families, couples, or bigger groups of all types. Your day on the river will be full of big wave splashy rapids, sunshine, wildlife, and stories from your guides. In between the class II-III rapids you’ll find plenty of time to float the flat water, take a swim, relax, and watch the beautiful Montana mountains as you pass by. Rafting the Clark Fork is best June through September and suitable for children ages 7 and up.
CDA River: The Coeur d’Alene river is an excellent fishing destination, just a stone’s throw from downtown Coeur d’Alene. With a strong population of Cutthroat Trout in the Coeur d’Alene River, fish can be caught throughout most of the year, with the best months to fish being March through October. Enjoy personalized or group guided fishing tours amidst the dense forests of the Idaho panhandle.
St. Joe River: Winding through over 130 miles of protected forest in the Idaho panhandle, the St. Joe is a tucked away and serene fly fishing destination. Beginning just downstream of where you can raft the St. Joe, you will be fishing for Westslope native Cutthroat Trout, and Blue Ribbon Trout. Similar to the Coeur d’Alene River, you can fly fish on the St. Joe from March to October on a float trip or wade in guided tour.
